'' Netcycling ''

Comparative research of the new contemporary Art movements inside the Network, since 1994 to the present day.

Abstract

This thesis analyzes the aesthetic, social and political challenges of a new Art form through the network.

Since 1994 and the creation of net.art movement, the internet artists exploit the network possibilities while to short circuit the Art world. Their experimentation propose a new relationship to the machine, bring out a new aesthetic dialogue between the artist and the viewer / amateur.

Since 2010, this new relationship is accelerated parallel to the Internet Boom and over the years the network was considered as an Utopian space of freedom, it is transformed into a consumerist space.

Inside this flow of information that continues to grow nothing is suppressed, to the point that we can talk about online pollution. This data amount form a collective memory available that artists begin to recycle to create artistic object that we call the 'Netcycling'.

This new artistic gesture of using online content to make an artistic object itself available online, position in a context called the "post-Internet Art" and raises the question between virtual and real exposure mode for the Netcycling object of Art.

Finally, the Netcycling is defined as a possible criticism of our capitalist society that consumes internet and still produces more information without taking the time to sort them.

Nietzsche said "A memory that does not forget is sick", then would it be possible that this sick memory make us crazy?
